Sovereign Dawn is a heavily-modified ROM-based MUD that offers all of this and more. Our focus is on gameplay, PVE (player-vs-environment), character & item progression, and a deep endgame.

• Streamlined newbie experience: Get into the game and play FAST. Don't worry about permanent decisions "bricking" a character - we're respectful of your time and effort, and the entire game is structured so you can learn as you go, without worrying about needing to remake after you've learned the game
• ROM-like, but not ROM-clone: We've kept many familiar areas such as MUD School and Midgaard so that you can find your way around - but customized them with our own mechanics, improved shops, and new connections
• 100+ areas: With dozens of unique areas, there is a ton to explore
• 10 unique classes: Including shapeshifter, venomancer, samurai, as well as the fantasy staples
• 15 unique races: From dwarf and gnome to orc and werewolf, every race has custom stats, passives, and active abilities
• Instance system: Dimensional gateways and temporal rifts can open throughout the world, leading to temporary versions of areas with unique area modifiers
• Game modes: Play in game modes like Roguelike, Solo-Self-Found and Diehard, which play in the same world and server for social interaction, but have completely separate economies
• Deep endgame: Half a dozen major areas are loaded with heroic monsters and loot, alongside dozens of heroic monsters spread (safely) throughout other areas
• Random items: Enjoy Diablo/Exile-like semi-random items, where existing items can drop with rarity, "tweaks," and bonus stats
• Item progression & crafting: Leverage the unique Resonance, Scrapping, Tinkering, and Ascension systems to fully customize your items to your playstyle

We've also got a ton of quality-of-life for our players:

• New commands to help first-timers: Don't worry about remembering whether to quaff, drink, or eat - simply type "use "; don't memorize all the shop commands, just type "shop" to get a list of everything you can do at a shop
• Mobile mode: Type "mobilemode on" to automatically configure your output for play on a mobile device using clients like Fado and Blowtorch
• Advanced config: Use the "config" command to see dozens of configuration options for spam, output, colors, and game features
• (Work-in-progress) Screen reader support: We are actively overhauling our game to make it more screen-reader friendly: config options, eliminating symbol/punctuation spam, "descriptive lines" instead of ASCII tables, and more
• Learn the world: See area information as you move between zones, receive warnings in areas that may be too difficulty, and easily find places to level up and acquire gear with the "areas" command
• Discover your items: The "lore" skill is available to all characters at level 1, and the "shop identify " command can also tell you about shop items

Seasonal content

We feature seasonal content using a unique "fresh start" system. We have NEVER had a player-wipe and don't intend to - our "Eras" system allows players from different, well, eras to play in the same game server, but with separate characters and separate economies. This keeps the player base in the same server, able to chat and socialize, but still allows a completely fresh start on new characters, a new economy, and a leaderboard to chase.

Administration

We're also a no-admin-BS MUD. Our staff is light, friendly, and most traditional "immortal functions" have been completely automated. We aim to keep our game bias-free with fair, light administration. We came from a game with drama and corruption, and don't seek to repeat it.
